Township of Mulmur Enhances Thomson Trail Park Thanks to $199,400 OTF Grant from Ontario Government

MULMUR – On Saturday, local MPP Sylvia Jones joined representatives from the Township of Mulmur to celebrate the completion of improvements at Thomson Trail Park made possible through a $199,400 Capital grant from the provincial government’s Ontario Trillium Foundation (OTF). The project included paving the park’s walking pathway and installing outdoor fitness equipment, creating a more accessible and inclusive space for residents and visitors to stay active and enjoy the outdoors year-round. The celebration also coincides with the Township’s 175th anniversary festivities and the dedication of a memorial maple grove in honour of Mulmur resident and Maple Leaves Forever founder Ken Jewett.

“Our government is committed to investing in accessible, inclusive spaces that foster community connections and encourage healthy living,” said Sylvia Jones, MPP for Dufferin-Caledon. “As we celebrate Mulmur’s 175th anniversary, the improvements at Thomson Trail Park highlight how this township and our community have continuously changed, grown and adapted to meet residents’ needs over the decades.”

Thanks to this OTF grant, Thomson Trail Park now features a newly paved walking path and outdoor exercise equipment designed for users of all ages and abilities. These improvements provide a safe, accessible, and free recreational space where residents can build strength, improve balance, and enjoy outdoor activity. The enhancements complement other amenities within the park and support the Township’s commitment to encouraging health, wellness, and community connection.

“The completion of these upgrades at Thomson Trail Park represents an important investment in the health and well-being of our community,” said Tracey Atkinson, CAO of the Township of Mulmur.  “We are grateful to the Ontario Trillium Foundation for supporting our project that will benefit Mulmur’s residents and visitors for years to come, while providing a wonderful gathering place as we celebrate Mulmur’s 175th anniversary!”
