Ontario is Consulting with Seniors and Caregivers on Aging Strong in Dufferin-Caledon

Seniors want to remain active in age-friendly communities that are open to their full participation. Most want to live independently, at home for as long as they can, working, volunteering, learning, or travelling. Yet many seniors face challenges accessing programs and services that support their safety, mental and physical health, and overall well-being. Supporting our seniors in Dufferin-Caledon is about investing in our own futures – everyone should be able to age strong, in an Ontario that is open to all. That is why we are moving forward with consultations to hear from seniors, caregivers and organizations on how the province can best support its aging population.

We are making the needs of seniors in Dufferin-Caledon and across Ontario a priority to help them remain independent, healthy, active, safe, and socially connected. That is why from June 7th to July 19th our government is hosting an online survey available to Ontarians throughout the province. As part of our efforts to prioritize seniors, I am having a public discussion on July 12th, 2019 at the Orangeville Seniors Centre from 9:00 – 11:00 am and July 16th, 2019 at Caledon Seniors Recreation Centre from 10:30 am – 12:15pm (further details below). We want your ideas on how the Minister of Seniors and Accessibility, Raymond Cho, can provide seniors with support to improve their safety, social lives, health care, independence, and finances.

The population of seniors in Ontario is expected to grow beyond 3 million by 2023. Additionally, seniors make up nearly 14% of Dufferin-Caledon’s population and play a vital role in our community. Supporting seniors is now more critical than ever to Ontario’s future.

Please consider sharing your ideas on how we can improve the lives of seniors in Ontario if you are unable to attend the consultations. You can take our Consultation survey on Ontario’s Seniors Strategy, email OntarioSeniorsStrategy@ontario.ca or mail a submission to the following address:
