CALEDON ― On Friday, MPP Sylvia Jones met with Caledon Agricultural Society (CAS) members to announce that the Ontario government is allocating nearly $128,000 in funding to CAS this year, provided through the Ontario Trillium Foundation’s (OTF) Capital grant stream.
This OTF Capital Grant will fund a 6-month project to replace a leaking roof on the CAS historic Exhibits Hall, preventing further deterioration, protecting community programming, and extending the building’s lifespan.
“This funding will preserve the Caledon Agricultural Society’s rich history and support our community for future generations to come,” said Sylvia Jones, MPP for Dufferin-Caledon. “Restoring the Exhibits Hall roof will give the Caledon Agricultural Society a space where the community can continue to gather and connect, all while maintaining this cherished heritage building.”
OTF’s Capital grant stream helps organizations improve their infrastructure so they can continue delivering programs and services that Ontarians need to thrive. Whether it’s purchasing equipment, building a new space or completing renovations, retrofits or repairs, these grants support projects that are making a difference in Caledon.
“The Caledon Agricultural Society is grateful to the Province of Ontario and to the Trillium Foundation for approving our grant application for 2026,” says Ed Taccone, President of CAS. “The OTF grant will pay to provide a new roof on our 120 plus year old Exhibits Hall, which has been on the Caledon Fairgrounds for 100 years. This building is a centerpiece for the Caledon Fair and for the Caledon Canada Day Strawberry Festival, and having a new roof will let it remain in good condition and provide an indoor venue for community activities for many years to come.”
The Capital grant stream is part of the government’s plan to protect Ontario by investing in community infrastructure, supporting local organizations and creating the conditions for long-term economic growth and prosperity.
