Province ensuring Dufferin-Caledon families can continue to access high-quality hospital care in the community
ORANGEVILLE— The Ontario government is investing over $4 million to support improved operations and reduced wait times, as well as complete upgrades and repairs at Headwaters Health Care Centre in Orangeville.
A nearly $2.4 million provincial investment will support the operations of core clinical services so the hospital can better meet patient needs, including through further reductions in wait times and addressing inflationary pressures across all areas of the hospital. This funding is part of a $1.1 billion investment into our hospital sector as part of Budget 2026, A Plan to Protect Ontario, which represents a 4 per cent increase in annual support for the fourth year in a row.
“Our government is making historic investments to protect Ontario’s health-care system, ensuring that more people in Dufferin-Caledon can connect to the care they need, where and when they need it,” said Sylvia Jones, MPP for Dufferin—Caledon. “Supporting improved operations and infrastructure upgrades at Headwaters Health Care Centre is one more way our government is ensuring local families can receive the high-quality care they need, close to home.”
Nearly $1.7 million is being delivered through the Health Infrastructure Renewal Fund, helping ensure Ontarians can continue to access the care they need in safe, modern environments. This investment is part of a broader commitment of over $266 million to support critical infrastructure upgrades and repairs at 126 hospitals across the province.
The Health Infrastructure Renewal Fund enables health-care system partners to address their urgent infrastructure needs, including upgrading or replacing roofs, windows, security systems, fire alarms and emergency generators. Headwaters will use this funding to support significant roofing upgrades across multiple sections of the hospital, the continued modernization of key building automation and control systems, and replacement of high-voltage electrical equipment. Since 2024, the Ontario government has increased funding through the Health Infrastructure Renewal Fund by 10% each year, allowing even more hospitals to complete upgrades and repairs in a timely manner.
Over the next 10 years, Ontario is investing approximately $64 billion in major health infrastructure. This is part of the government’s plan to get shovels in the ground on more than 50 major hospital projects across the province, which will deliver approximately 3,000 new hospital beds to enhance access to quality care and build a connected, people-first health-care system.
