News Release – Jones: Minister Needs to Commit to Action on Shelburne Advanced Green

(Queen’s Park) – Today, Sylvia Jones, MPP Dufferin-Caledon called on the Minister of Transportation to take action on the Shelburne advanced green.

“Having read the Minister’s commitment to undertake a review of the intersection in the summer of 2018, it is clear that the Minister is intent on delaying this needed upgrade,” said Jones

“I absolutely support the Town of Shelburne’s call for an advanced green at the intersection of Highway 10/89 and County Road 124. That is why I have been pressuring to the Minister of Transportation to act,” said Jones.

“The Town of Shelburne is the fastest growing community in Ontario. This growing community needs appropriate road safety infrastructure that will keep its residents and those travelling through, safe,” said Jones.

“I am pleased to see that the strong advocacy of Mayor Bennington and Council are pushing forward on an issue of great importance to Shelburne. However, the intersection does not need more study in 8 months; it deserves an advanced green today.” said Jones.

“The County of Dufferin already has traffic data from peak times in the summer which shows the need for an advanced green. Frankly, anyone who has been at that intersection at a peak time period, knows that upgrades are needed,” said Jones.

“I call on the Minister of Transportation to commit to this needed upgrade today,” said Jones.
