Dufferin-Caledon Athletes Receive Funding through Quest for Gold

Dufferin-Caledon – MPP Sylvia Jones is pleased to announce that 16 Dufferin-Caledon athletes will receive funding through the Quest for Gold program. They will receive a combined $77,442 from the Quest for Gold Program.

These athletes compete in basketball, soccer, equestrian, indoor volleyball, boxing, track and field, ringette, cycling, freestyle skiing, lacrosse, triathlon, sledge hockey, and bobsleigh.

The Quest for Gold Program has been running for 14 years and it provides support to Ontario athletes to compete at their very best in international sport competitions. This program emphasizes a balance between athletic excellence at international competitions and academic success. This program encourages athletes to train and compete in Ontario.

The Quest for Gold Program funds training, coaching, competition fees, sport equipment, tuition, textbooks, fees, and living costs. More information about the Quest for Gold Program can be found here.

“16 Dufferin-Caledon athletes will receive a combined $77,442 from the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Sport’s Quest for Gold Program,” said MPP Jones. “This is remarkable news for our community’s athletes. Athletes competing at the International level have invested in competition and the Ontario Government provides support.”
