$30,000 OTF Grant Awarded as Ontario Government Teams Up with Youth Soccer
May 30, 2026
CALEDON – On Saturday, local MPP Sylvia Jones met with the team at Caledon Soccer Club to hear more about the $30,000 Capital grant they received from the provincial government’s Ontario Trillium Foundation (OTF). The grant funded the purchase of new equipment for house league programs and grassroots programs to improve both the safety and functionality of Caledon Soccer Club’s main facility, the Caledon East Soccer Complex, for players, staff, and volunteers.
“Caledon Soccer Club plays an important role in keeping young people active, engaged and connected through sport,” said Sylvia Jones, MPP for Dufferin-Caledon. “Through the Ontario Trillium Foundation, our government is proud to support investments that help improve safety, strengthen local recreation programs and ensure young athletes across Caledon continue to have access to high-quality community sports facilities.”
Caledon Soccer Club used the Capital funding from OTF to purchase eight new 5’ x 8’ aluminum soccer goals on wheels. These portable goals will replace old, hard to move equipment crucial to several of the club’s youth recreational and grassroots programs each summer. Thanks to the Ontario government’s $30,000 grant through the Ontario Trillium Foundation, access to Caledon Soccer Club’s programs can be maintained for hundreds of young players.
“We are absolutely honoured to be awarded this grant as it continues to prove how impactful government support is for not-for-profit clubs and communities like ours,” said Gabriel Borges, Executive Director of Caledon Soccer Club. “This not only positively impacts close to 2000 children, but also adds safety for our members and our staff because the nets are safe and more efficient. We are extremely grateful to receive this support.”
Caledon Soccer Club is committed to promoting and developing the game of soccer within Caledon, as well as helping individuals to develop their character as resourceful and responsible members of the community.
