Ontario Investing in Headwaters Health Care Centre

Dufferin-Caledon: MPP Sylvia Jones is pleased to share the news that Headwaters Health Care Centre (HHCC) is receiving additional funding for 2020/21 to meet current and future demands for regular services.

HHCC is receiving a top up of $3,726,800 – an increase of 7.2 percent. That amount is part of the province’s total commitment of $935 million in new investments to support small and medium hospitals this year. The overall investment takes into consideration incremental growth to support flexibility.

“This investment will help ensure that patients in Dufferin-Caledon receive the care they need and the hospital has the funds to meet the demand,” said Jones. “Ensuring that HHCC has the funding it needs has been a priority for me and I am pleased to make this announcement.”

“Today’s announcement is such positive news for our hospital,” said Kim Delahunt, President & CEO, HHCC. “This funding addresses some long standing pressures that we have had and allows us to more accurately plan for and deliver the programs and services that people need and expect from their community hospital.”

She added, “This funding adjustment will ensure we can continue to be responsive, which is so important as our world gets used to a new normal.”

These are extraordinary times that demand extraordinary measures and through Ontario’s Action Plan: Responding to COVID-19, the province has made a further investment of $341 million in hospitals to ensure their ongoing readiness to care for an increasing number of COVID-19 patients. This includes funding for 1,000 acute care beds, 500 critical care beds and COVID-19 Assessment Centres.

Ontarians health and safety is the province’s highest priority and the investment in HHCC will benefit all residents in Dufferin-Caledon.
