News Release – Jones: Questions Minister on Broken Bolton GO Train Promise

(Queen’s Park) –  Today, Sylvia Jones, M.P.P. Dufferin-Caledon questioned the Liberal Minister of Transportation on two broken infrastructure promises related to Dufferin-Caledon. In 2007 the Liberal’s announced their MoveOntario 2020 plan would include a Bolton GO train. Ten years later, Metrolinx released is draft version of the 2041 Regional Transportation Plan, which pushed back a Bolton Go train to beyond 2041.

“Now the government is saying that won’t happen until at least after 2041. That is a 20 year delay,” said Jones.

“In another example, when I wrote to the previous Minister of Transportation asking him to expand GO bus service to Shelburne, his response talked about high-speed rail to Kitchener Waterloo. Kitchener is almost 100km away from Shelburne. Today, when the new Minister of Transportation responded to my questions she mentioned Brantford a community an hour and half drive from Caledon,” said Jones.

“The Liberals have a track record of making promises that they have no intension of keeping in an attempt to buy votes,” said Jones

“Ontarians want a government that understands the needs of our community. This just goes to show that you can no longer trust the promises of this Liberal government,” said Jones.
