JONES: PARENTS WILL NEVER GIVE UP AND WE WON’T GIVE UP

Queen’s Park) – Today, Sylvia Jones MPP Dufferin-Caledon continued to pressure the Minister of Children and Youth Services to reverse her decision after yesterday’s debate to restore funding for IBI therapy for children over the age of 5.

“Parents are disgusted the Minister and her colleagues ignored experts and thousands of parents and voted down our motion,” Jones said. “There were hundreds of parents and individuals that are disgusted with yesterday’s vote, and took to twitter to express their disappointment,” Jones said.

One individual wrote to the Minister stating, explain to me how your side’s empty when it was time to listen and full when it was time to vote. Another individual wrote, disgusted with the Ontario Liberals tonight. They had an opportunity to do the right thing and voted not to.

“The Minister doesn’t seem to understand the impact this decision is having on families. It means children who have benefited from IBI therapy and are now able to speak will never be able to complete their therapy. It means children that are perfect candidates for IBI therapy will never experience the impact this life-changing therapy has,” Jones said.

“These parents will never give up on their children and we won’t give up. The Minister needs to do the right thing and reverse her decision so each child in our province can become the best they can be,” Jones said.
