ISABEL BASSETT APPOINTED TO THE ORDER OF ONTARIO

(Queen’s Park) – Today, Sylvia Jones MPP, Dufferin-Caledon attended the Investiture Ceremony where Isabel Bassett was appointed to the Order of Ontario.

From the Order of Ontario website, Isabel Bassett has served the people of Ontario throughout her career, first as a high school teacher, and then as a journalist, writer, broadcaster and member of the Ontario Legislature – all of which made her well-suited for the role of Chair and CEO of TVOntario.

“Isabel is an outstanding individual who has given back to our province throughout her career. She has been a supporter and mentor for me throughout my political career, and I was honoured to attend today’s ceremony recognizing her appointment to the Order of Ontario,” Jones said.

“I want to congratulate Isabel for receiving this great distinction, an acknowledgement of her commitment to Ontario,” Jones said.

The Order of Ontario is the province’s highest honour.

The Order of Ontario was established in 1986 as a means for the Province to honour those Ontarians who exemplify the highest qualities of achievement and excellent and whose contribution enrich the lives of their fellow men and women in our Province, in Canada and in the world.
